What the app does on your device
- Your camera is used only to scan a document, only while you're actively scanning. Pages stay on your device.
- Photos or files you pick from your Photos library or Files are read only through Apple's own picker, which never gives the app broad access to your library.
- If you save an exported page or PDF as an image using the share sheet's Save Image option, Docsnug asks for add-only access to Photos: it can add the image you choose to save, but it can never read, browse or see anything else already in your Photos library.
- Text recognition (so your PDFs are searchable) runs entirely on your device, using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No image or text is ever uploaded anywhere for this.
- Your documents, pages and signature are stored in the app's own storage on your device, and are included in your normal iPhone or iPad backup like any other app's data.
- If you turn on Face ID or Touch ID locking, that check happens on your device through Apple's own Face ID / Touch ID system. Docsnug never sees your face or fingerprint data.
What leaves your device
Your documents never leave this device unless you send them, using the share sheet or Save to Files you control. Docsnug never uploads a document on its own, and never has a "cloud" of its own to upload it to.
The one thing synced through Apple
Docsnug's free-document count (how many of your 3 free documents you've used) is kept in Apple's iCloud Key-Value storage, which is how it stays correct if you reinstall the app or use it on a second device signed into the same iCloud account. This is a single number, tied to your own iCloud account, that Apple stores and syncs. Docsnug has no server and never sees it outside your own devices.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your scanned documents live in the app's own storage, on your device. Deleting a document inside the app removes it from your device; deleting the app itself removes everything the app stored, including every document. Whether a deleted document still appears in an existing device backup follows your own backup settings (Apple's, for iCloud or computer backups), the same as any other app's data.
The one number that is not kept only on this device, your free-document count, stays in the device's Keychain and in your own iCloud Key-Value storage on purpose, so reinstalling the app or moving to a new device does not reset your free allowance back to 3 documents.
We hold none of this ourselves. Docsnug has no server, and nothing about you or your documents ever reaches us, so there is nothing for us to give you, delete on your behalf, or protect. If you have any question about what is stored, contact support@docsnug.com.
Purchases
The one-time unlock purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store / StoreKit. Docsnug never sees or stores your payment details. Apple does, under Apple's own privacy policy.
Children
Docsnug does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect any information from anyone.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from any other website. It is served by Cloudflare Pages, which keeps standard server logs for security.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes, this page will say so, with a new "last updated" date above. As of the date above, the policy is simple: nothing is collected.
